The Gift That Rights Past Wrongs

Spencer had one big request of God: to give him the gift of time travel.

Not because he wanted to meet a historical figure or get a sneak peek into the future.

But because, like many of us, Spencer was haunted by his past.

Whenever he looked back on what his life was like before coming back to Jesus, Spencer felt mortified.

He had wasted hundreds of hours of his life playing video games.

Then he committed a crime that nearly landed him in prison.

Feeling lost and unable to fill the void in his life, Spencer began to believe that life wasn’t worth living.

Hopeless and in deep pain, Spencer tried to kill himself.

Fortunately, he was unsuccessful. And in the fallout, he found his faith again and returned to Jesus.

But Spencer’s past tormented him.

He pleaded with God to let him go back and undo his mistakes.

Then, God used a Your Move video on YouTube to speak clearly into Spencer’s struggle.

I’ll never forget the day he said to me almost exactly what he said to Paul,” Spencer says. “His words to me were, ‘What you really want is to not need my grace.’

In that moment, Spencer embraced God’s gift of grace—instead of asking for the gift of time travel.

Now I am able to feel peace,” he says.

Thank you, Andy, for this great reminder that even though my past isn’t going anywhere, his grace is sufficient for me.
