Laurence H. Powell is the president of Powell Family Enterprises, LLC, a private equity investment company in Atlanta, Georgia. He served as president of Powell & Company Insurance from 1978 to 1991, when it was sold to AON Risk Services, Inc., of Georgia, a subsidiary of AON.

Powell has invested in and served on the boards of a number of private companies. He currently serves as a trustee of the Maclellan Foundation. In addition, he serves on the board of iDisciple, the board of trustees for FaithBridge Foster Care, and the board of Your Move Collective.

He received a BBA from the University of Georgia (magna cum laude) and a master’s degree in insurance from Georgia State University. Larry and his wife, Betsy, reside in Highlands, North Carolina, where he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his three sons, their wives, and his nine grandchildren.
